My art work has always been inspired by nature; my observations of creatures and their behaviour and the commonplace. I am often drawn in by details, qualities and subtle colour. I'm inspired by the poetry of John Clare and Ted Hughes and the nature writing of Richard Mabey, Robert Macfarlane and the late Roger Deakin.
I am a ceramicist and printmaker and combine both practises, often printing directly onto clay.
I studied Ceramics and Glass at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design and MA Ceramics at Cardiff School of Art and Design. I was awarded a Commonwealth Fellowship in the Arts and Crafts and studied in Papua New Guinea which gave me a first- hand insight into a completely different environment.
I have run workshops on ceramics and printmaking in community groups and schools, on out- reach projects with the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and with the National Trust.
